Dr. Klein is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Medical Association (AMA), the Florida Medical Association (FMA), the Central Florida Physicians Alliance (CFPA) and the Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO). He performs complete eye examinations and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. He is a leading expert in the use of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) for laser treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Klein is committed to helping improve the care of his patients, and after extensive work, he received a U.S. Patent for an image catalog of optic nerve changes in glaucoma patients to be used in electronic medical records.
Dr. Klein is known by his patients not only for his commitment to their eye health but also for his kind bedside manner and wonderful sense of humor. He and his patients enjoy long relationships and have fun with the many traditions established in his office, such as dressing up on Halloween and movies with popcorn on SLT laser days. He then continued with a three-year residency in ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Klein spent an extra year at the Cleveland Clinic for fellowship-training in glaucoma. Dr. Klein came to Winter Haven in 1998 when he joined the Eye Specialists of Mid-Florida as the glaucoma specialist, and later in 2007, he founded Central Florida Eye Care.
Dr. Scott Klein earned his medical degree from Nova Southern University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He completed his medical internship at UMDNJ’s Atlantic City Medical Center, in Atlantic City, New Jersey as well as an ophthalmic internship at LAC+USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
